The HANS device angle means the angle between the yoke section of the HANS device (the part resting against the driver’s chest and shoulders) and the collar section of the HANS device (the vertical part behind the driver’s helmet).
The correct HANS device angle is selected so that the collar section is at a 60-90 degree angle to horizontal when the driver is in the driving position and the belts are tightened. (See the illustrative drawing in the product images)

The device may lightly touch the helmet, but if the collar section angle is over 90 degrees from horizontal, meaning the upper part of the collar points forward, you should consider reducing the HANS angle, for example from 30 to 20 degrees.
The collar section may also lightly touch the seat or headrest, but if it contacts the seat uncomfortably and/or its angle is under 60 degrees from horizontal, you should consider increasing the HANS angle, for example from 20 to 30 degrees.

HANS device angles are generally 10-40 degrees. In saloon cars, rallying, folk racing, circuit driving, etc., a 20-degree angle is almost always used.
HANS size is selected primarily by feel. More than one HANS size may fit the same driver well.

NOTE! It is recommended to test-fit the HANS device while sitting in a seat with an angle as close as possible to the actual driving position.

To find the right size for your HANS Device, measure around your neck above your shirt collar using a soft tape measure, or use a ruler to determine your neck diameter in the same area. Keep in mind that sizing can sometimes overlap between different options, so personal comfort should ultimately guide your choice. If you’re a youth racer, consider selecting a size that allows room to grow while still maintaining a safe and secure fit.
